About Author
Bios of all the contributors: Arif Hasan is an architect and planner, activist, teacher, researcher and the author of a large number of books, research papers and monographs on urban development issues. Mansoor Raza is an electrical engineer, environmentalist, and urban planner. Currently, he is serving as a lecturer at the Development Studies Program, Department of Architecture and Planning, NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi. During the start of his engineering career, Raza got involved in social sciences research and is closely associated with civil society and the NGO sector. Anum Mufti is an educator and writer with expertise in Development Studies, focusing on Economics, Gender and Development, and Sociology. Her academic background has laid the foundation for her interdisciplinary approach to understanding the complexities of human societies. “Irdam Fatima ‘22 I graduated from NED University with an architecture degree in 2024. I’ve always been deeply conscious of the connection between space and society, a perspective that was heightened by winning first place in the IAP’s “Space Making x Place Making; Unveiling the Unseen” design competition at IAPEX 2024.” Aliza Imam I am an architecture graduate and an enthusiastic student of arts and sociology. My motive of participating in these discussions is to be able to better understand the societal issues and to learn about different perspectives that my peers bring to the table. Nudrat Fatima Junaid is a passionate development practitioner and researcher with expertise in gender and urbanism. Her work emphasizes women’s empowerment, gender-sensitive transport systems, and equitable urban planning. With strong academic credentials and diverse research experiences, Nudrat has collaborated with prominent organizations and individuals to address pressing socio-economic and gender-related challenges. Dhuha Alvi is a writer whose research revolves around gender, class and politics.
